How is CGPA Calculated?

CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is calculated using the following formula:

CGPA = Σ(SGPA × Credits) / Σ(Credits)

Steps:

  1. Multiply each semester's SGPA by its total credits
  2. Sum all the weighted scores
  3. Sum all the credits across semesters
  4. Divide the total weighted score by total credits

Example

Semester 1: SGPA = 8.5, Credits = 20 → 8.5 × 20 = 170

Semester 2: SGPA = 9.0, Credits = 22 → 9.0 × 22 = 198

Semester 3: SGPA = 8.0, Credits = 18 → 8.0 × 18 = 144

CGPA = (170 + 198 + 144) / (20 + 22 + 18) = 512 / 60 = 8.53
